Jessica + Young: Costa Mesa Anytime Shoot

May 3rd, 2012

This was such a cool shoot! I have always wanted to do a couples session near Segerstrom Hall.  It such a cool area in Costa Mesa with interesting buildings, backgrounds and landscape. And it all looks even more fantastic with a fun couple like Jessica + Young.  I’ve been looking forward to this shoot for [...]

Kiley + Rodney: Dana Point Anytime Session

April 5th, 2012

Ooooh, how I love shooting in urban environments! Half the fun is chasing the light, and the other half is working with a couple like Kiley + Rodney. Talk about fun! These two are the kind of couple where it’s just UNFAIR that they are so sweet, fun, and photogenic to boot! Thanks, guys, for [...]

Lindsay + Stephen: Vista Anytime Shoot

February 23rd, 2012

I had a great time meeting and shooting a session with Lindsay and Stephen. I sometimes pick unusual places to shoot, and in this case, we shot the session at Vista’s civic center. It was incredibly quiet over the weekend, and you’d be surprised how a random building can present a lot of different shooting [...]

It was incredibly quiet over the weekend, and you’d be surprised how a random building can present a lot of different shooting options! The best part of the shoot, though, was Lindsay + Stephen. This couple was so sweet and fun, and I think their personalities and love really shine through in the photos. Thanks for a great session!

Vanessa + Eric: Corona Del Mar Anytime Shoot

February 2nd, 2012

This was such a fun shoot with Vanessa + Eric in Corona Del Mar. My favorite aspect of shooting in cities is it really keeps you on your toes. Light changes pretty quickly, especially near sunset, which often means we’re walking around frequently to find the best light. Vanessa + Eric were lots of fun [...]

It’s a classic photographer pitfall: you get so busy shooting other people you never think or plan a session for yourself! I finally made time last weekend for my own photos. Many, MANY MANY thanks to the amazing, wonderful, magical Rachael Drootin, owner of Charmed Beauty, who made me look about a million times better than I do in every day life. I’ve said it to all my clients: having a great makeup artist not only makes you look like the very best version of yourself, but it also helps to give you an extra confidence boost in front of the camera.  I’m still trying to figure out a way to bribe Rachael to do this for me every day…

Many thanks also to my wonderful husband, who took these photos :)

Clearly, there was something going on to my right that was very intriguing…;)

A little quirky :)

Danielle + Kyle

It’s been somewhat of a joke the previous years that my brothers were never likely to have serious girlfriends or get married. My brothers are close as only brothers can be, and I just assumed they would all live in a little compound together for the rest of their lives.

It’s been somewhat of a joke the previous years that my brothers were never likely to have serious girlfriends or get married. My brothers are close as only brothers can be, and I just assumed they would all live in a little compound together for the rest of their lives.

In recent years, though, some of that has changed, and I really couldn’t be happier about their girlfriends. Kyle + Danielle have been together a little under two years, and Danielle is an absolute sweetheart. I adore her and her son, Nathaniel, as I know everyone else in my family does, as well.

I was in Michigan recently, and I wanted to get some pictures in downtown Detroit. Danielle + Kyle agreed, but after spending some time in downtown Plymouth, I decided to shoot there the next day. I ALWAYS have a blast shooting, but it really is that much more fun with people you already know. It didn’t make me any less nervous to get great pictures for them, and there was a lot of laughing on both sides, but I couldn’t be more pleased with these pictures.  And yes, maybe it’s because I love the people in these photos oh-so-much :)

I saw this moose the previous night and as we left Hermann’s Olde Town Grille, I said, “You have to hold up the horse tomorrow!!!!” Only once I got across the street did I realize it was a moose. Yuuuup.

Maybe my favorite shot of the day :) The light in this little stairwell was amazing!

Action shot!

M’kay, ordinarily I wouldn’t post a photo like this, but Danielle said something that made them laugh hysterically, so I think the moment must be preserved :)

These last two I took a couple of nights before the shoot, but I just love the feel of them :)

It ALMOST seemed like this shoot wasn’t going to happen. Now, I used to work in downtown LA, so something felt wrong when my GPS told me to take the 110 south to get to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I confirmed that feeling when I practically ran into the docks and had to turn around! So I felt a bit flustered having arrived late (I am never, EVER late for shoots!), but Ivy and Dennis totally made the drive worth it! I’ve been dying to do a session in downtown LA for some time now, and could not be happier to work with this pair. They were a ton of fun and up for anything!

Ivy, I have to say this: you have some fantastic gams! :)

Too gorgeous for words!

Love this “floating” one :)

I love me some streetlights :)
