I’m stealing this idea from my friends Jessica and Tameka because it is just so good, and I’ve missed random blogging! So, every Friday I’ll blog about five things…we’ll see how long I can keep this up :)
Oh. My. Gah. I saw this recipe on Eat, Live, Run via How Sweet It Is and I couldn’t WAIT to make it! Pot pie tops my list of ultimate comfort foods. I used to buy those cheap Banquet pot pies, until my husband started scaring me with talk of, “Okay, if it’s only 80 cents, what do you REALLY think is in that?” I don’t know why it never occurred to me to use puff pastry as the crust, but I am not kidding you in saying you should immediately stop what you’re doing and gather the ingredients to make this. Absolutely heavenly, and reheats well, too! This will be in the regular rotation in our house.
So…I have a problem with Sephora. You know how every time you go into Target you plan to buy one thing, and leave $50 poorer? I have that same problem with Sephora. Trips to the store begin with stern self-lectures, saying things like, “You are ONLY going in for primer. That’s IT! I mean it, young lady!” My last trip I had intended to buy foundation only and came out with all of this. Oops. Well, sometimes you just have to “treat yo self!” I love new makeup! Pictured: Tarte LipSurgence lip tint in Amused, Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation, Sephora Retractable Waterproof Liner in Matte Charcoal, Sephora Colorful Blush in Icy Fuschia, and Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in Hyperfocal.
3. The Hunger Games
I started reading this series thanks to my book club, and I couldn’t be more excited to see the movie this weekend! How does one prepare to see such a movie? By painting her nails in China Glaze’s Capitol Colours nail polish, of course! I usually don’t buy into these things, but I saw a swatch of Stone Cold and really loved its matte, but glittery, finish. Sorry if my fingers look all weird.
4. ASUS Eee Pad
On Christmas morning, I opened up a box from my husband and found this tablet. I was underwhelmed. See, my husband is Mr. Technology. There is literally a TV in our house that I don’t know how to turn on, because there’s a separate receiver, and multiple remotes, and possibly some kind of sacrifice required…in any case, I just give up. He always has the latest and the greatest. To be honest, when I opened it up, I thought, “Okay, this is like a giant phone…minus the ability to call anyone.” I didn’t even charge or touch it for a few weeks. NOW, I love it! It started because I ordered a few books on Kindle and loved the portability. Then I had to fly back to Michigan, so I downloaded some videos and was SO PSYCHED to have something to watch on the long flight! My current obsession, though, is Draw Something. I just can’t draw as well on my phone as I do on the tablet.
This is my drawing for Dracula…don’t act like you’re not impressed!
5. Being a tourist
I can’t be the only person that falls in this trap, right? I was thinking a couple of days ago that we’ve only been to the beach 4 or so times since we moved here. No matter where you live, it’s so easy to get caught in the day-to-day, which really is a shame when you live in a place like California! My brother was out a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to play tourist and go to the Griffith Observatory. Such a cool place! It was smaller than I expected, but there was a ton of great information and the grounds are breathtaking. And, as evidenced, I finally saw the Hollywood sign! Not that I haven’t seen it before, but this was my first picture opportunity. I regretted bringing my wide-angle lens because with a longer lens I could have been pretending to eat it. Instead, I had to “crush its head.” Sigh.
